Album Info: | In 1980, we visited the railroad that had been the last common carrier to use steam. Their steam engine, the 97, was retired in 1970 and immediately went on to serve in excursion service service. The next engine at the M&G was their one and only diesel, the 98. While there are plenty of pictures of the steam engines, pictures of the 98 seem to be non existent. Brownsville was the location of the wood mill, which is where this photo was taken. There were several locomotive cranes at the mill which moved small wood cars throughout the mill. |
