BNSF 8956 as Rear Distributed Power on TXU Coal Unit Train |
Description: |
With KCS 4609 and BNSF 9368 on the lead, only BNSF 8956 was needed as the rear distributed power unit on this empty TXU coal unit train returning north from Shreveport. While the loaded trains always have two units on front and two units on back, the empty train sometimes have only one unit on the back (and, on occasion, no unit). |

KCS 4101 and 4110 running slow with block signals down due to storm caused power outages |
Description: |
High winds and severe storms pounded Converse, Louisiana on 5/3/2009. As a result, there was a prolonged power outage that knocked out the main power for all KCS grade crossing signals as well as block signals in some areas. This train is passing by two signals which would normally be illuminated. |

The Navy's Blue Angels fly in the background as UP 9988 passes |
Description: |
There is some type of Air Show at Barksdale AFB on Saturday, and the Navy's Blue Angels have been rehearsing all week. Usually, the military jets stay on the East Side of the Red River (over Bossier City) but for air shows, the planes do fly over Shreveport. I hope to get a better shot on Saturday, though if they run in the morning the sun will be on the wrong side. The most interesting part is that when I look at the series of photos I took, the four jets are in exactly the same formation in each photo, the only difference being relative size as the jets get farther away from the camera. |
