Album Info:Count Joseph Telfener, an Italian entrepreneur, built the railroad from Rosenberg to Victoria. It had the ambitious name of The New York, Texas and Mexican Railroad, it didn't originate in New York, nor did it reach Mexico. Known as "The Macaroni Line" for the Italian workmen who were brought from Italy for construction, the rails eventually went as far as Victoria. Eventually the Texas and New Orleans Railroad took the line over which in time, Southern Pacific then took full control of. The line went dormant in the late 1980's - very early 1990's and eventually, the entire line was removed until KCS purchased the right-of-way and rebuilt the line in 2008-2009 bringing rail service back to this historic line.
