BN/CB&Q Depot, St Joseph MO |
Description: |
This small, brick station was opened off 6th Street in 1959 to replace the cavernous old St Jo Union Depot located downtown. As of 1960 it had 12 trains a day and you ride to KC, Omaha, Lincoln and Chicago from here. It's last passenger train, a one-car BN Kansas City to Omaha operation, departed on the eve of Amtrak. I shot this picture fully intending to come back and get one of it in better light- alas, the building was knocked down in 2008. |

ATSF St Jo local on the BN |
Description: |
Two Santa Fe GP39-2s (3434, 3412) bring a very short St Jo local past the BN depot at Weston MO in September 1994. The train is exercising trackage rights over the BN between KC and St Joseph. The depot would later be moved away from the tracks and become the city hall. |

Dearborn: After the Tracks Left |
Description: |
Dearborn Missouri once had three railroads through it; neither the Interurban or Rock Island made it to WWII. The Chicago Great Western route to Kansas City became CNW in 1968 and was abandoned itself in 1986. The mid-50s cinder-block depot survived for a while but it's since been removed, as have these fuel tanks. |
