Viewing Album:  Big Boy visit to California

Album Info:UP 4014 was making it way to California as part of it's western tour. The last time I had seen it it was on display at the LA county fairgrounds in Pomona Ca. I was not able to go see it on display at Portola the following day, but was going to catch it as it came back over Donner Pass near my home in Reno. Unfortunately it struck a tree near Auburn Ca and was delayed several hours for repairs. By the time it came into Reno, it would have been too dark to photograph.

Looking good as she went by. I just recently learned about the factory worker who chalked on the "Big Boy" at the front of boiler at the Alco factory and the name stuck. A nice little touch.
