Description:  Both trains appeared at the same time on the converging mains (which go around the small yard), but the UP NB intermodal is running left main to overtake the slower BNSF train. The UP train is on BNSF trackage rights between Kansas City and Chicago.

Description:  Both trains are moving good paces, but the NB UP intermodal (which is on trackage rights over BNSF that UP pays dearly for) is overtaking the slower BNSF train by running on the left main. I assume a few miles further north, the dispatcher will put it back on the right main.

Description:  If I have read the maps correctly, this UP train is coming south off of the "Spine Line" that Rock Island and the Milwaukee Road shared into KC. The UP owns the former Rock Island half (through C&NW) and CPKC is the successor to the Milwaukee Road. This also could've been a transfer run between the two lines, though it seems to be overpowered for that.
