Dates:4/10/2023 - 12/31/2025
Album Info:Always less standard cab EMD leaders and more dirty red GEs, but still enough variety to make the occasional trip to this line worthwhile. We'll see what changes the KCS merger brings about...

AMTK 317 about to slam Popenfus' crossing with No. 8 eastbound
Title:  AMTK 317 about to slam Popenfus' crossing with No. 8 eastbound
Description:  Popenfus' is a Milwaukee Road-era local nickname for Ontario Street. I thought the Siemens Chargers were hideous when the short-haul version first appeared on the Hiawathas several years ago, but they've grown on me, especially with the Phase VI and VII paint schemes!

Bright red Golden Beaver units look sharp in the late spring afternoon light
Title:  Bright red Golden Beaver units look sharp in the late spring afternoon light
Description:  Quite (pleasantly) surprising to us railfans that CP began repainting their remaining SD40-2s early last year, despite them being mostly relegated to MoW/work train service (like these ballast trains) by 2018 or so.

CP 6017 leads 2WWA starting the pull toward the yard
Title:  CP 6017 leads 2WWA starting the pull toward the yard
Description:  This unit had eluded my lens until now, although my dad caught a video of it leading a 281 way back in May, 2010 when it was still in CP Rail System "Dual Flags" paint. That scheme was badly faded then, and the locomotive would wear it for another twelve years!

Yard job backs into the Meigs spur to pick up some tank cars
Title:  Yard job backs into the Meigs spur to pick up some tank cars
Description:  The Meigs spur is actually the only remaining stub of the old Soo Line "P-Line" that once came down from Stevens Point (abandoned in the 1940s!), and the tail track used for headroom on it is a stub of the old MILW Northern Division line to Horicon/Milwaukee (abandoned between here and Cambria in the early '80s).

CP 2324 back in the Meigs spur collecting the tank cars
Title:  CP 2324 back in the Meigs spur collecting the tank cars
Description:  Meigs is an asphalt company...not sure what they receive/ship in the tankers. The spur splits into two tracks, from Google Earth it looks like they can fit up to 14 cars at a time.

Hiawatha 339 glides toward Bain Station Rd. with a B32-8WH leader
Title:  Hiawatha 339 glides toward Bain Station Rd. with a B32-8WH leader
Description:  First train I've shot this far south (RR east) on the C&M Sub since I moved out of Milwaukee ten years ago. Of the handful of times I've caught one of these on the Hiawathas, this is also the only time I've caught it on the westward end, the usual place for the powered locomotive on these trains prior to the Siemens Charger era.

A bit of a smoke show
Title:  A bit of a smoke show

AMTK 160 "Pepsi Can" heritage leads westbound Borealis 1333
Title:  AMTK 160 "Pepsi Can" heritage leads westbound Borealis 1333
Description:  My first catch of the "Borealis" service since it launched three months prior, I wanted to make sure to get it with one of the special/unusual units that has been frequenting it. This is a version of the scheme the B32-8WHs wore as delivered in the early '90s. I've caught this one before (leading No. 8, the eastbound Empire Builder, in February 2022), but the photo didn't turn out great and the video was unusable. Naturally, clouds filled in on what was forecast to be a mostly sunny afternoon.
