PPCX 800040 - Cedar Rapids Observation Car |
Description: |
Still one of the most iconic observation cars ever built is the "Cedar Rapids". This ex-Milwaukee observation car #186 "Skytop" features the "beeaver-tail end" As the last car in the massive 2019 New River Gorge Fall Colors trip, it must have afforded those inside with a specatular view. |

PPCX 800040 - Cedar Rapids Observation Car |
Description: |
Directly behind the lead train crew member is the "beaver-tail" observation car with its massive Mars taillight. The Amtrak conductor is waiting for the three Amtrak diesels to finish their run-around to hook up for the return trip back to Huntingon, WV. Another album of mine contains the action sequence for this hookup. |

PPCX 800136 - "Summit" Dome Car |
Description: |
Built by the Budd Company in 1954 as ATSF 554 labeled "Big Dome" (fitting name), this dome car is still an eye-catching beauty. After ATSF it landed on the Auto-Train roster and then moved over to the SLRG roster. Not sure what its current status is. |

PPCX 800359 - "Pacific Trail" |
Description: |
Built as a Pullman style sleeper UP #1445 by Budd Co, it had 10 signle rooms and 6 double bedrooms. The car bounced on to AMTk#2638, HEP #2882 and RBBX #41407. With the more colorful cars in the New River Gorge Fall Colors trip, this one looks drab by comparison in the NYC gray stripe styling. |

PPCX 800644 - "Fox River Valley" |
Description: |
Originally built for the Pennsylvania RR as the "Henry Hudson" parlor car, it was renamed "Fox River Valley" when it fell onto the Penn Central roster. Again, like several other cars in this massive train filled with specatular and colorful cars, it looks like a rather bleak "plain-Jane". |
