Album Info:Here are 15 photos of Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotives. All of them were purchased in two eBay auctions conducted by Mr. Louis Fols ~ one on 29 March 2020, the other on 5 April 2020. The photographer's name, the locomotive number(s), the date, and the location are cited when specified on the slide mount.

Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Art Peterson that was taken in Crestline, Ohio, in the Summer of 1950. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7676, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidation" built by the American Locomotive Company during September of 1913 and retired in 1955 after 42 years of faithful service. Note the Hostler on the tender's deck, replenishing its water tank. "Fill 'er up, Mack!" ("LouisFols"; #2 of 15)

Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) via Al Chione that was taken near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1947. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6456, a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during January of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, it's just come down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve with a mixed-cargo freight train, and will soon pass under the 24th Street Bridge on its way to the Eastbound Receiving Yards in Altoona. Note the head-end brakeman ridin' the roofs on the train's sixth car! ("LouisFols"; #7 of 15)

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3750, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata as number "3750" during March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and presently on display as number "3750" at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6827, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in April of 1956 after 30 years of faithful service. In this context, it's just traversed the Middle Division from Altoona with a fully-loaded mineral train, and is about to cross the Rockville Bridge on its way to Harrisburg. ("LouisFols"; #14 of 15)

Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Nelson Bowers that was taken in Enola, Pennsylvania, in June of 1952. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6747, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A during July of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in September of 1948, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of service.
