Album Info:For the 4th consecutive year 0-6-0 steam locomotive CNJ 113 powered the Minersville Santa train out of its namesake town in Schuylkill County, PA. Reading Blue Mt. and Northern provided the train set, a friendly and attentive train crew, and “protect” power for the southbound portion of the ride. I rode the Dec 4th Santa Train with my daughter and two grandsons. I chased the Dec 18th Santa train through rain and fog, and a coating of snow on the ground. The fog was challenging for a trackside photographer, but also provided some neat atmospheric effects with the steam locomotive exhaust. Central Railroad of New Jersey Project 113 is a wonderful story of a small group of preservationists who persevered and found a way to restore a derelict anthracite mine switching engine into a beautiful and historic operating steam locomotive that now fills kids of all ages with wonderment, and should serve as an inspiration to other ongoing preservation projects.

Description:  I rode the December 4th train with my daughter and grandsons, so trackside photography wasn't high on the priority list. We did, however watch the Santa train roll by at Westwood Junction before heading up to Minersville depot to board our train.
