One of 25 4-8-4's built by Baldwin in 1943. The first 3 (4500-02) like this one were fitted with oil burners and painted blue and white with red letters proclaiming the duty as pulling the Meteor. Nice example of a 1942 Baldwin built 4-8-4 Northern. Twenty-three of the twenty-five like this one were coal burners used in freight service with an occasional passenger service when needed. Specs - 74" drivers, impressive 255 psi boiler pressure, 28x31" cylinders, engine weight of 474,040 lb, impressive tractive effort of 71,188 lb.
