Danbury |
Description: |
Looking east towards the railroad, you can see the large pile of pine logs awaiting loading. I think the Standard Oil company probably received cars by rail at one time, but pulpwood was the only thing left in the 1970s and 80s. |

North Danbury |
Description: |
Looking south at the NSS, you can see that Soo Line kept things up, even on marginal branchlines. There is a switch broom and the track is much better than most CNW/Milwaukee lines in Wisconsin. |

There was a siding at Siren, that I am sure had not seen a meet since the 70s or maybe 60s! There was a little bit of business left here, and you can see the MP 83 sign on one of the telegraph poles. |

oops moment by the Soo Line signal dept and WI DOT |
Description: |
I put this rather plain picture in as a lost story about the Soo Line. This set of xing signals was supposed to be placed in downtown Danbury about 5 miles north of here, after a fatal car accident in Danbury finally brought xing signals in. Youd have wondered why someone didnt wonder why there was two sets of heads on the mast, as there was a side road in downtown that they were intended for. Guessing this was a $25,000 or more mistake in the mid 70s when they were put in. |

Jct 278 ahead |
Description: |
Coming into Boylston, WI and crossing under the BNs main line, the Soo Line Danbury Sub is heading up the hill to Jct 278 where the Brooten line came in from Moose Lake. We are looking north towards Superior WI and this is just a few years before this section was removed and BN realigned their tracks to this line just south of here. |
