On page three, there is a full-page photo of "The Last Steam Locomotive in Pennsylvania Railroad service, retired July 15, 1959" ~ 57 years ago today!

Description:  Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Hornerstown, New Jersey, on 3 June 1958. Caption On Negative Sleeve: "Union Transportation Company. Leased PRR 5244, 0-6-0, B-6sb, 3/4 left, with train and cabin car 982186, near crossing of Homes Road, north of Hornerstown, N.J., 6-3-1958." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5244, a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata during February of 1916 and retired on 15 July 1959 after 43 years of faithful service. It's the last active revenue-generating steam locomotive ~ of any type, by any builder ~ in Pennsylvania Railroad service.
