Berwind-White, "Nancy," 0-4-0, 1960
Title:  Berwind-White, "Nancy," 0-4-0, 1960
Description:  BWCX. Here is an original photo that was taken at the Berwind-White Railroad Car Shops in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 12 April 1960. Shown here is the Vulcan 0-4-0 steam locomotive named "Nancy." The builder's plate indicates "Vulcan Locomotive Works ~ 1918." This locomotive was retired during the Winter of 1963-1964, so it served faithfully for around 46 years! In this photo, "Nancy" is shifting a highway-trailer-carrying flatcar owned by the Transport Leasing Company. The Car Shop Offices are located in the structure in the middle of the photo, while the smoke stack shows the location of the coal-fired Power Plant. Brush Mountain is visible in the distance.

Title:  PRR 5600, BS-7M, 1964

Since the driving wheels on the steam l`comotive called "Nancy" kept slipping off, it became necessary to procure a replacement. This Diesel locomotive was "pinch-hitting" until a replacement was found.
