Description:
Massive Yellowstone-type articulated steam locomotive built by Baldwin in 1941 for the DMIR. This was a heavy hauler of ore cars. Specifics - M-e class Yellowstone-type, 63" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, four 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 695,040 lb, massive tractive effort of 140,093 lb. Thankfully this monster has been preserved at the Lake Superior RR Museum for all to see and admire. Howard Davis photo credit
