CP 4-4-4 #3004 - Canadian Pacific
Description:
Here is a strikingly beautiful example of a Jubilee-type 4-4-4 steam locomotive built by the Milwaukee Locomotive Works in 1936. This F2a class of locomoitves held the Canadian record for speed set at 112.5 mph. in its heyday. The photographic credit listed as Theo. A Gay.

CP 2-10-4 #5909 - Canadian Pacific
Description:
Long before an EMD SD40 unit carried the number 5909, this 2-10-4 Selkirk type steam locomotive had the distinct honor of wearing it for the Canadian Pacific. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in July of 1929 (serial #67930, class T-1a) that CP called "Selkirks" instead of traditional Texas monicker, were excellent performers in the rugged Canadian Rockies. To cut down on fuel, they were built as oil burners since a coal burner would have needed increased tender size and thus increased the weight to nearly 400 tons to go the distance that a lighter oil burner could do. CP 2-8-0 #3229 - Canadian Pacific
Description:
Interesting photo of an 1899 Alco-Richmond built ten wheeler. Originally it was #723 but the entire class of ten wheelers went through several rebuilts and renumberings (this one was renumbered in July 1902 to #1025, renumbered in May 1906 to # 1429 ans reclassed from SE3 to M1c, renumbered in April 1913 to #3229, cylinders wer changed from 21&23X26 compound to 20X26 simple in November 1913). Number 3229 was listed as an oil burner between 1938 and 1941. Starting with #3215 being scrapped in June of 1921, most of the class was scrapped in the 1930's. #3214 however, lasted until after WWII before being scrapped in December of 1946, #3229 was scrapped in April 1941. This was marked as a Harold K. Vollrath photo and also marked as having belonged to the Pacific Western Rwy collection (owned and operated by Union Lumber Co).

CP 2-10-4 #5908 - Canadian Pacific
Description:
Beautiful and powerful enough to handle the rugged Rockies were these Canadian Pacific 2-10-4 Selkirk type steam locomotives. This one was built in July of 1929 (serial #67929, class T-1a) by the Montreal Locomotive Works. CP called these mighty locos "Selkirks" instead of the lower US label of "Texas" style. Ten were built in the first order in 1929 with another 16 to follow later. Photo is by J.R. Quinn.
