Description:  A recently repainted former Southern Pacific GP60 leads a UP frjight out of Englewood Yard in Houston. This locomotive was delivered as SP 9739 in May 1991 and wears a 5800 series number that did not last long, shortly after repainted this locomotive was renumbered to 2038 and will soon be assigned a 1000 series number clearing the number block for SD40Ns coming online.

Description:  A former Santa Fe GP30u works the massive former Santa Fe Alliance Yard in Haslet. This locomotive was delivered to Santa Fe as GP30 1263 in April 1963 and renumbered 2763 after rebuilding. This locomotive became BNSF 2462 but never repainted then placed into storage in 2008.

UP 3002
Title:  UP 3002
Description:  UP 3002 was delivered to Western Pacific as GP40-2 3545 in July 1979, becoming UP 900 on May 26, 1985, MP 900 on June 11, 1985, then back to UP 900 on June 26, 1987. In 1990 this unit was sent to M-K for rebuilding as a mother-slug set emerging as UP 3002 on December 20 and after seperating the slug this unit was renumbered UP 1535 in February 2002. The slug was built for KCS as GP30 108 and chopped down into a slug also by MK for UP road service. Note these units still carry cab air conditioners, a WP ordered feature almost always removed by UP.

SSW 6892
Title:  SSW 6892
Description:  Delivered to Southern Pacific as SP 9219 SD45T-2 in April 1972 this diesel has the distinction of being the last unit rebuilt at the Sacramento shops emerging as GRIP rebuild SD45T-2R in December 1989. It's not clear if this unit was transferred to Cotton Belt before or after rebuilding but after this unit departed Sacramento SP closed the shops so this was the final GRIP unit rebuilt by SP employees. After rebuilding this unit was derated to 3,200 horsepower and worked for SP then sucessor UP until retirement on December 28, 1999. Union Pacific assigned this locomotive a new number, 4799 in September 1997 but was retired before a patch or repainting could occur. I was unable to find any information on the disposition of this EMD after retirement so most likely it met the scrapper's torch. In this photo SSW 6892 is working with a former Mopac SD40-2 demoted to B-Unit status in the former Espee Englewood Yard in Houston.
