Description:  This road warrior was delivered to Southern Pacific as SD45 9018 in March 1969 and entered the SP shops for rebuilding emerging as SD45R 7530 in November 1984. By this date both 7530 and Southern Pacific have fallen on hard times as evidenced by the filthy appearance, different numberboard fonts, and dented plow. This locomotive would be rebuilt again moving to Brasil and becoming MRS Logistica SD40-3MP 5311.

Description:  April Fool's Day 1997 finds an ex MP C36-7 sitting alone in Centennial Yard. Today these tracks are filled with motive power waiting for the next train but back then power short UP didn't leave power sitting too long. After retirement from UP this locomotive went halfway around the world and is working for Estonia Rail.

Description:  Judging from the shine on the wheels, this diesel has been through the hump a few times. Built in May 1973 as MP 955 then renumbered MP 2106 to UP 2106. Sold to Helm and became HATX 210 she was rebuilt and resold to UP as 1840 and renumbered to make room for the B40-8 to 340.

Morrison Knudsen purchased and rebuilt this unit releasing it as SP 7127 GP40M-2 on July 30, 1991. After the Union Pacific merger this unit was initially assigned UP 5405 but never received this number and instead became UP 1505 on March 30, 2002.

Description:  Idling at the BNSF Temple Yard, this former Burlington Northern SW1200 appears to be resting against the wheel stops. Delivered to Colorado & Southern as SW1200 153 in February 1959, this switcher kept this number until C&S was assimilated into Burlington Northern becoming BN 253 in 1982. In September 1999 this unit received a fresh coat of BNSF H1 paint and a new number becoming 3521 and kept this number until retirement. This switcher was sold to Koppel Steel and is now used as a plant switcher based in Koppel, PA as KPLX 35211 still wearing H1 paint.

Description:  Delivered to Southern Pacific as B39-8E in September 1987, this GE would keep this number until the end of Espee in 1996. The first change would come in April 1999 when this unit was painted in full UP colors, renumbered 5643, and reclassified a B40-8. A second renumbering would occur almost exactly five years later in February 2004 when this GE was renumbered to 1834. This GE would operate a few more years for UP then stored in Houston where 1834 resides alongside other idled B40-8s today (as of 2013) as UP retires and auctions off these high horsepower B-Boats.

Description:  A Southern Pacific GP60 idles in UP's Centennial Yard waiting to be assigned to an outbound freight. In this photo 9775 is nearing her fourth birthday and still looks pretty nice after nearly three years of hard usage under the Espee flag. This locomotive would remain on the UP roster and be renumbered 2074 along with a full repaint to Armor yellow.
