NP 1 "Minnetonka"
Title:  NP 1 "Minnetonka"
Description:  I love this engine. It is nice how it shares the name of a Minnesota lake--one which, incidentally, the Northern Pacific did not serve, but its sister road Great Northern did. Northern Pacific successor BNSF still technically owns this engine, but its management nixed an idea to move it to BNSF headquarters at Fort Worth, Texas, a decade ago. The Northern Pacific was born in Duluth, which makes the "Minnetonka"'s longtime home appropriate.

Hello, hello again, Soo 2719!
Title:  Hello, hello again, Soo 2719!
Description:  I first saw this lovely Pacific during "Steamfest in the Valley" at Osceola, Wisconsin, in 1998. Sadly, "real life" kept me from seeing her again until 2015. She is currently stored at the Lake Superior Museum, its new owner. Here's to her returning to steam sometime in the near future! The sunlight effect could not be helped, but it does add a dramatic flair to my reunion with the 2719.

Title:  And One Fan Stopped To Look

Goodbye Minneapolis
Title:  Goodbye Minneapolis
Description:  The westbound fall colors excursion to Willmar has already left Minneapolis behind as the train approaches the venerable pedestrian footbridge which spans the Wayzata Sub and the Cedar Lake Trail. The sun angle resulted in a bit of nose blur on the 261, but otherwise this picture came out great.
